Peer Note Taker Frequently Asked Questions

How do I register to be a note taker?
To be considered for a peer note taker role, please click on the “Profile” tab and log in using your seven-digit NWP ID and password that is used to access myClass. Complete all the steps in this section to be considered as a peer note taker.

How will I know if I am selected to be a note taker?
You will be notified via email that you have been chosen as a note taker.  Once you receive the email, please ensure you are uploading course notes within 24 hours of the class.

How will I know who the student that I am taking notes for is?
Maintain confidentiality is important to Accessibility Services and the students that we serve.  By using the ClockWork system, it allows students to maintain their anonymity as they wish.  Should you and the student you are working with express an interest in being known to each other, that can be arranged, but both parties would need to agree.

What if I am away from class?
It is your responsibility to arrange for a backup peer note taker to assist in providing notes to the student when you are away.  They will need to provide you with a copy of the notes to upload or they can send them to as@nwpolytech.ca to be uploaded on your behalf.

Can I take notes for a class I am not registered in?
If you are interested in taking notes in a class that you are not registered in, please complete the registration process and contact the Accessibility Services office directly at 780-539-2017 or as@nwpolytech.ca.  If there is an opportunity available, there is a possibility this could be arranged.

What if I need to withdraw from a course that I am an assigned note taker in?
Please contact the Accessibility Services office at as@nwpolytech.ca or 780-539-2017 as soon as possible to inform them of your need to withdraw so an alternate note taker can be arranged for the student.  Please do not stop taking notes without first notifying Accessibility Services as this can impact the student if they do not have access to notes.
